Jim Wicks leads the EDI program and teaches Product Design, Thesis Studio, and Management of Product Innovation. He was the Senior Vice President of Consumer Experience Design at Motorola, Google, and Lenovo.

Amy O'Keefe

Amy O'Keefe is the EDI studio director and teaches Service Design. She leads design sprint and micro-pilot coursework. Amy has consulted on service, experience, and integrated multi-channel initiatives for Fortune 50 retail and global Am Law 100 clients.

Greg Holderfield teaches Design Strategy Studio. Greg was the vice president of design and strategy at ARC Worldwide / Leo Burnett, where he led breakthrough initiatives for McDonald's, P&G, Kellogg's, and Symantec.

Dan Brown teaches Differentiation by Design and Intellectual Property and Innovation. He is the founder and president of LoggerHead Tools and a principal at Consul-Tech Concepts. He also holds over 30 U.S. utility patents.

Stephen Carr

Stephen Carr is the emeritus dean of undergraduate engineering. Stephen Carr consults for industry on matters dealing with materials processing, design, selection, and performance.

Michael Chapman

Michael Chapman teaches Design Research. He spent 12 years with IDEO as a design director before joining Ascension Health as a senior director with the mandate to initiate the design research team.

Susan Curtis

Susan Curtis teaches Interaction Design with Haoqi Zhang and mentors EDI thesis projects. She is the founder and president of Bloompath Studios, a consultancy helping purpose-driven organizations design better products and services.

John Hartman teaches Communication Design and a number of industrial design courses in the Segal Design Institute. He was previously Industrial Design Lead at Lunar Design.  

Walter Herbst

Walter Herbst teaches Making Things and mentors EDI thesis projects. Walter is a fellow of both the National Academy of Inventors and the Institute of Design Engineering and Applications (IDEA) program.

Craig Sampson teaches Designing Product Interactions and Intersect CPG. He is the founder of TBD Innovation. Craig previously founded and directed the IDEO Chicago office.

Amy Schwartz

Amy Schwartz teaches Design Research and Thesis Studio. Currently, she consults as a Principal at Empathic Innovation and is the Design Researcher in Residence at MATTER, the Chicago health-tech incubator.

Jill Sherman is a Design Principal and Enterprise Design Thinking Leader at IBM. She has over 20 years of extensive graphic design, branding and integrated marketing experience in industries including automotive, corporate citizenship, education, health care, insurance, retail, pharmaceuticals, and publishing.

Elisa Vargas

Elisa Vargas teaches Service Design. Currently, she leads the global user experience design practice as design director at Motorola Mobility.

Helen von den Steinen co-teaches Product Design Studio and Intersect CPG. She is a Principal Scientist for research and design at Procter & Gamble.
