Alumni Interview

"Product Design Studio, Differentiation by Design, and NUvention: Medical were all very focused on learning about physical product design. Those three are the classes that helped me most towards getting the career I have now."

When you started EDI, did you know what industry you wanted to work in or were you still exploring?

I knew I wanted to go into design consulting, specifically product design.

Tell us about an EDI course that made an impact on you.

Product Design Studio, Differentiation by Design, and NUvention: Medical were all very focused on learning about physical product design. Those three are the classes that helped me most towards getting the career I have now.

Is there anyone you worked with during EDI that you consider a mentor?

Dan Brown. He's an awesome product designer, taught me a lot during classes and independent study, and helped me get a job at LUNAR Design.

What advice do you have for an EDI student interested in working in your industry?

Try to figure out what you want out of EDI as early as possible. If you want to do product design, tailor your classes towards that goal so you'll have relevant projects to put in your portfolio. It's hard to do, but it helps a lot to know what you want going into the program.
