Class of 2015 Takes EDI Alumni Count Past 100

The EDI program hit a big milestone Monday, surpassing the 100 person alumni mark as 18 students from the class of 2015 walked across the stage in Tech’s Ryan Auditorium.

Graduates shook hands with EDI Director Ed Colgate as he congratulated each student on earning his or her Master of Science in Design Innovation.

Just before graduation, students joined family, friends and faculty in the Ford Design Studio for a luncheon to celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments. Colgate and EDI Associate Director Amy O’Keefe shared favorite memories from working with each of the students.

“This is another exceptional cohort that has really raised the bar for EDI,” O’Keefe said. “And it’s such an exiting time, because they’re heading into industry as their Service Design Studio project is being piloted by a Fortune 500 corporation.”

EDI graduate James Wilde mirrored that excitement, saying he’s eager to reenter industry and to employ the skills he learned in EDI at his new role as user experience researcher at Dish Network.

“Design leadership will be very important as I move into a very corporate environment and have to prove the value of design,” Wilde said.

Wilde’s classmates will be taking on a variety of impressive positions throughout the country including roles in research, strategy, design and engineering, and will be working at companies like Accenture and Radio Flyer

Regardless of the next step, each graduate is enthusiastic to put what he or she has learned in EDI to practice in the real world. We at Segal wish them the best of luck and cannot wait to see all of the great things they do!
