Why EDI?
Linlin decided to pursue the EDI program after realizing—through both academic learning and work experience—that many “invisible users” are overlooked, and designers must uncover their unmet needs. With a background in Industrial Design, she has worked on projects that improve users’ lives. But after reading Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men, she was shocked by how often female users are neglected in design—even by herself as a female designer.
This realization led to her project “Libra,” an eyeshadow palette with a sliding feature designed for users with smaller hands, long nails, or physical limitations. The experience made her believe that even small design changes can create meaningful social impact. It also shaped her long-term goal of building a brand focused on inclusive design. Linlin believes EDI’s multidisciplinary structure and focus on innovation will give her the right tools and guidance she needs to turn that vision into reality.
