Tate Mazer, EDI '27Entrepreneurship, Physical Product Design, UI/UX

About
Tate has spent decades in fascination of how humans/machine relationships can cultivate effective and joyful extensions of human capacity and experience. His passion started by curiously analyzing and modifying electro-mechanical equipment to best suite users needs while still considering serviceability, reliability, and sustainability. This spanned industries such as automotive, access technology, and coffee. He had the pleasure of working roles which touched all of these concerns, resulting in a firm understanding of what it takes to develop a successful product. In the end, Tate believes that by incorporating thoughtfully designed experiences, users can feel empowered to achieve more, and feel joyful pride in their abilities and tools.

Why EDI?
Tate felt that the EDI program was an incredible opportunity to explore how his background in engineering could bolster his passion for good design, while learning alongside other Midwest professionals. Tate's previous experience in both commercial and domestic coffee product development helped catalyze a sense that enjoying good human-centered design can be a universal experience, which is best created in consideration of the humans that interact with them. Tate is eager to deepen his understanding of the design process and work with innovators who are the future of good design.
