Jiayan MaDesign Research, Product Design, UI/UX

About

Jiayan has always been fascinated with the ways that design and user observation can make a positive impact in the real world. She sees setbacks and failure as part of the design process. Jiayan knows that a solution might not come easily and the process might involve many iterations, but she really enjoys that moment when an idea becomes reality and a person’s life is improved, even if just a little bit.

Why EDI?

Jiayan knew she wanted to combine her background in mechanical engineering and her interest in library art. When Jiayan was an undergraduate, she encountered the perspective that a good product is only defined by its technological capacity. She disagreed and was thrilled when she found the EDI program because it welcomes an interdisciplinary approach.
