Michel Domenella, EDI '27Design Engineering, Design Research, Physical Product Design

About

Michel is a designer passionate about putting his fingerprint over all aspects of the design process, and using those skills to bring an intentional and empowering physical product to users. He realized how important this was during his time as a new product development engineer where he was deeply immersed in the design and manufacturing process. Today, he is continuing to sharpen his physical prototyping skills while building his understanding of how to imbue a product with the human spirit.

Why EDI?

Michel’s curiosity of the world around him has been present throughout his life - as evidenced by various design projects, competitions, and internships dating back to grade school. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2023 and working for two years as a new product development engineer, Michel gained incredibly valuable experience designing and manufacturing products. EDI is a phenomenal opportunity for him to learn how to identify unmet needs in order to become a more well rounded designer. He recognizes that there are a lot of similarities between designing a product and designing a career, and can’t wait to see what shape the latter ends up taking.
