Justin Chang Stauffer, EDI '27Design Engineering, Design Research, Physical Product Design

About

Justin has always loved making things; from furniture and jewelry to musical instruments, his first reaction to a specific problem was to create something himself to most accurately fix it. This helped him see that there were solutions to struggles that most people accept as a part of daily life. To Justin, human-centered design is a way to help improve the lives of the people around him, so that every person can navigate the world easily regardless of their differences or disadvantages.

Why EDI?

Having studied mechanical engineering in undergrad, Justin realized that much of the engineering field focuses on problems that rarely touch the lives of most people. Originally interested in aerospace for the technical problems it presented, he was unable to rationalize spending time and resources on areas like space exploration when those resources could make differences in the lives of so many people. He hopes that studying human-centered design at EDI will help him make a difference.

Experience before EDI
