Ana Carvallo, EDI '24Inclusive Design, Physical Product Design, Sustainability

About

Ana hopes to use design to reconnect people with their planet and its treasures, shift the global culture to one of sustainability and planetary love, and empower the world through making. She believes that a designer’s priorities should be centered around intentional consideration and care for all of humanity and is motivated to create an inclusive and accessible world. She has a deep love for the absurd, and hopes to work on projects that serve no purpose other than laughter. She values above all else diversity of thought, experience, and culture and recognizes that all truly great ideas are formed through a collaborative mixing of pretty good, totally weird, and entirely impossible ones. For her, creation is an integral part of the human experience and she is looking forward to sharing it with as many people as possible.

Why EDI?

Ana's love for this program was sparked by its mission of ethical creation and is fueled by her desire to make an impact designing and redesigning everything from the tangible to the impossible. She had always been interested in the world of making, but it wasn't until she was working building face shields during the height of the pandemic that she decided to pursue design as a field of study. Ana recognizes that sometimes the best solution to a problem might be a physical product, and other times it might be something else. She loves the program's flexibility and its drive to take on problems of any shape and size.
