Simone WestJob before MMM: Management Consulting

Why did you choose MMM?

The MMM program was exactly what I was searching for in an MBA experience. I wanted a curriculum that extended beyond traditional business management courses to shape me into a more human-centered innovator who could navigate the lifecycle of an idea from inception to launch. The program's distinctive emphasis on the intersection of business acumen, design methodology, and technology coupled with opportunities to tackle real-world design challenges through company partnerships made MMM the ideal choice for me.

What is life like as a MMM student?

Dynamic. My typical day often flows from hands-on, collaborative working sessions in the MMM studio, tackling the latest design project, to engaging classes and club events at the Global Hub, where the broader Kellogg community comes together. This constant shift, both in physical space and academic focus, keeps each day stimulating and far from routine. But it can also get hectic because there's never a shortage of things to do. You need to create space when you need it.

The MMM studio isn't just a place for work; it's also a place to connect with other MMMs. Our program attracts some pretty cool people—talented, inspiring, and creative minds united by a shared ambition to evolve into more curious, empathetic, and innovative leaders. With around 60 of us per year, the cohorts are tight knit. It’s a supportive and fun community with a real sense of camaraderie. It's truly the people that have made this experience stand out for me the most.

Life as a MMM student is a fun, exhilarating journey of learning and growth that doesn't stop with graduation. As a MMM, you become a part of a lasting community that extends well beyond the 2 years together in Evanston.

How did MMM help you during your summer internship?

The MMM program empowered me to ask deeper, more insightful questions and navigate ambiguity with confidence–that’s a muscle you learn to develop early in the program. Understanding the right moments to question "why?" and grasping how those answers could steer the course of my project was crucial. And when faced with ambiguity, rather than feeling overwhelmed, I felt excited. It presented a more compelling and rewarding challenge to solve.
