Riley Kiltz Job before MMM: Startup Co-founder, VP at Stonelake Capital Partners

Why did you choose MMM?

The MMM program seemed like an opportunity to use both sides of my brain! During my application journey, I, like most applicants, poured over the marketing materials across all of the top MBA programs. Kellogg's MMM program was markedly different than the rest. The program's emphasis on developing human-centered, whole-brain thinkers resonated with me. Since being admitted, I've never looked back. It's the best decision that I've made in my adult life.

What is life like as a MMM student?

Well, my life is atypical from the average Kellogg student. With four kids at home, my hands are quite full. Thankfully, the famMMMily has allowed me to feel a strong sense of connection and community despite having less time than most to show up to events. Week to week, the MMM program nests within the broader Kellogg experience while still providing differentiated learning opportunities. I've specifically loved to utilize the MMM lounge in the Ford building to tuck away when I need to get away from the Global Hub. Oftentimes, I'll run into other MMMs, and impromptu brainstorms will occur on anything from discussing a new startup idea to navigating the niche recruiting pathways. I cannot emphasis enough how much of a privilege it is to learn from this incredibly dynamic group.

What have you loved about your MMM experience?

Life as a MMM is the best. We feel a level of comfort and familiarity akin to a startup team. We challenge each other openly in class because we have the psychological safety that we have each other's best interest in mind. As a result, my MMM classes are much more interesting and engaging. Learning aside, MMMs have been the much-needed community that has supported me through the highs and lows of the MBA. If you want to hang out with 65 smart, interesting, empathetic people, then MMM is the way to go.
