Mark GaipaLecturer, The Cook Family Writing Program


Mark Gaipa is a lecturer in the Writing Program and teaches the Design Thinking and Communication (DTC) course. Before coming to Northwestern, he taught writing and literature at Brown University, Harvard University, and Loyola University Chicago, as well as Universität Stuttgart and Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany. His scholarship addresses modernist literature, rhetoric, and writing pedagogy, with essays on Virginia Woolf and James Joyce; in 2015, he co-edited a new edition of Joyce’s Ulysses, titled The Little Review Ulysses.

Gaipa is also Senior Editor at the Modernist Journals Project, a digital humanities project that digitizes journals from the early twentieth century.
