DSGN 395: Bay Area Communication Design

Quarter Offered

Winter : Mondays 9am-12pm ; Jeremy Birnholtz

For Bay Area Program Participants

Humans are visual beings. Much of the information that we consume is taken in through our eyes. From photographs on Instagram, to the text printed in the pages of a book, visual communication design has been around for hundreds of years, and continues to evolve with the introduction of new technology.

The goal of this course is to expose you to principles of visual communication design spanning layout, imagery, typography, and color while exploring a range of tools and media through which to communicate. In visual communication design, you’ll complete a range of projects. From short explorations, to more in depth design development, you’ll learn how to apply the design process to the development of visual pieces.
