PhD Research Admissions
Fellowship awards are made on a competitive basis to exceptional PhD students with deep interest in interdisciplinary design issues. Nominations by faculty advisers are solicited once a year at the end of spring quarter.
At the time the cluster award begins, a fellow must have completed his or her first year as a graduate student at Northwestern. Ideally, fellows will be in their second year of graduate study. Only students with pre-candidacy status will be considered.
The fellowships will only be awarded to doctoral students willing to work with faculty advisers from at least two different disciplines and two schools. At least one faculty adviser should be a member of the Segal Faculty Research Council.
