About

Yongsun is a PhD student in the Technology and Social Behavior program, working with Dr. Haoqi Zhang in the Delta Lab.

His core research is to study how to effectively leverage and coordinate on-the-go crowd’s opportunistic contributions to produce desired global outcomes. He defines "on-the-go crowd" as a general population of people who are on the way for their daily routines. His research broadly spans and draws from the fields of human-computer interaction, human-centered design, crowd and social computing, artificial intelligence and decision science. His research aims to tap into 100 million on-the-go people to collect data in unprecedented detail and accomplish a range of physical tasks at scale. Yongsung designs and implements general frameworks and interaction techniques that can achieve this by 1) scaffolding individual opportunistic contributions towards a communal goal, 2) developing models and mechanisms that intelligently assign tasks, and manage individual and system goals.
