Design Thinking and Communication (DTC) students can get help in a variety of areas at Northwestern:

Prototyping and Fabrication Lab Introduction

Shop Orientation & Introduction to fabrication equipment is required for all DTC students.

Important Dates

DTC-1 (DSGN 106-1)
This course is taught in the fall and winter quarters and culminates in a design project fair held on a Saturday preceding exam week.

DTC-2 (DSGN 106-2)
The second half of DTC is taught in the spring quarter. Students finish the course with an oral presentation that takes place during the regularly scheduled exam period for their section.

Course Materials

Design Thinking and Communication materials, including the syllabus and textbook, are available through Northwestern's Learning Management System (Canvas).

There are no required costs for DTC.

Course Section & Location

Except for the Monday lectures, all DTC classes meet in the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center studio classrooms on the ground floor, G.201, G.205, G.211. Monday lectures take place in the Technological Institute. Complete information on section locations and instructors can be found through CAESAR.
